 . Celebrating the Guru-Shishya Tradition

The word guru (gu = darkness, ru = remover) literally means “one who dispels ignorance”

🙏 . A Universal Day of Gratitude & Learning

💫 . Cultural & Philosophical Meaning

Vegetarian rituals like Guru Puja, Padapuja, mantra chanting, and scripture recitation reinforce humility and reverence

Guru Purnima is more than a date on the calendared it's a heartfelt tribute to those who guide us out of darkness, whether spiritual, intellectual, or personal. Rooted in ancient traditions across Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism, it’s a day for reflection, renewed devotion, and honoring the lineage of wisdom.

We celebrate Guru Purnima with a variety of sweets and prasad made from dry fruits, wheat, and ghee.

In the past, everyone used generous amounts of jaggery (gur) and ghee for making sweets.

Traditional khir (kheer) is often prepared using ingredients like sevaiya (vermicelli), rice, cracked wheat (daliya), or whole wheat. These are simmered in milk, sweetened—typically with sugar or jaggery—flavored with cardamom or saffron, and enriched with ghee and chopped dry fruits like almonds, cashews, and raisins
